“And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven.” (Luke 21:11 NKJV)
Taiwan was hit by a 7.4 magnitude earthquake at 8:00 am Wednesday morning. It is the largest earthquake to hit the island nation in 25 years.
According to the latest reports, at least ten people have died and over 950 people were injured. It is believed hundreds more are trapped in the rubble, including about 80 in underground road tunnels. An additional 70 are also trapped in a coal mine.
Along with bridges collapsing and rock slides, over 26 buildings were totally destroyed and images show others leaning precariously after being knocked off their foundations.
The city of Hualien located in Southern Taiwan was the hardest hit.
Concerns are already being expressed about the potential economic consequences of this earthquake because Taiwan is one of the major manufacturing centers for computer chips.
The Bible prophets warned of earthquakes in the lead-up to Christ’s second coming.
In his vision of the end times recorded in the Book of Revelation, the Apostle John cited five earthquakes of note, including the largest earthquake the world will ever see.
